I'm another Barb and a Tuttle descendant. Got sidetracked a number of years back and am just getting into doing a little research here and there again. I too am stonewalled on Tuttles so thought I'd see if I could round up any information on that illusive missing brother: Bradford. Lo and behold, there you were trying to find us! I believe the Richmond that you are looking for is in NY (though I'm not sure yet of the location myself, but near NYC probably). My ancestor Abner Tuttle was brother to your Bradford and they are both (in Tuttle genealogies) sons of Abijah Tuttle (true parentage unknown) and his wife Sally (Sarah) Dean of NY state. Abijah fought in the Rev War and applied for a pension which was refused because he was old and poor and couldn't prove his service. But the records now indicate he did fight in a militia from Stillwater, Albany Co NY. In his pension papers he mentioned fighting as a substitute for someone in Richmond and I later learned it was in NY. If your Bradford was born there, it's interesting and may provide us clues as to where to search further for Abijah's information. It is thought he was son of John Tuttle, who was son of Solomon Tuttle who was son of David Tuttle, son of John Tuttle. John came from England to the New World at the age of 4 on the Planter. His parents! were William and Elizabeth Tuttle of New Haven Colony. If you go to www.rootsweb.com and look for World Connect pedigrees on the left margin you will find numerous pedigrees for our Tuttles. I'm not positive about what's in the genealogies and have reservations as to the factualness of it and I wonder if the reason we can't get back further is because we've the wrong father for Abijah. May never know. In fact, I really don't have absolute proof that my Abner was a son of Abijah and Sally. Anyway, I hope this helps you and gets you on the right track. Best of luck in your quest. If you ever learn anything more, please keep me in mind. Barb Petty Avondale, AZ Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
