This month has been pretty much Cornish oriented as demanded by you the users of this site, thanks for the feedback! There are a few other bits and pieces in here too, but more of that later. I’ve also been kept quite busy with my responsibilities as an Online Parish Clerk. I’ve neglected my transcriptions a bit getting this site up and running, so I went back to do a bit this month, in case anyone was wondering why I hadn’t added to the site for a couple weeks J. If anybody has had any interest in the Parish of Sithney, Cornwall, then look out soon for some new additions to that site. Enough with the waffling! Updates Well this month, as mentioned previously, has been mainly devoted to Cornwall, but not entirely……. Firstly we’ll start with one of the big guns of Cornish ancestry that has sprung up in recent years. The Cornwall Online Census Project (COCP) was started by the same people that started up the OPC scheme, and is very similar, but with the obvious exception that they deal with all parishes in Cornwall, and just the census returns at that. It has recently undergone a number of changes, the main one is that a search engine facility is now up and running, making it incredibly easy to find those elusive ancestors. Its still a work in progress, with the 1871 & 1881 census returns being undertaken, and the 1901 census is in the pipeline. This is one of the essential sites for finding you’re Cornish roots. Another Society has submitted for listing. The Cornish Forefathers Society has a site where you can buy all manner of transcriptions and is also chock full of links, well worth a visit. An interesting little site has also crossed my path this month. If you have found a lline of ancestry that disappears into thin air, have you ever thought that they may have gone to South America? A little known site that covers these people can now be found on my site, I found a number of odd cousins after a few minutes of searching. Also in the Cornish vein are a mining index site, some 16th century wills and also sites pertaining to the parishes of St Erth and Illogan. I did digress a bit as a few sites crossed my path. A brilliant site that finds graves for you - you can even look up the rich and famous! Also to be found this month are genealogy sites covering the Counties of Houghton & Keweenaw in Michigan, A wills exchange site which is useful and a new project specialising in Pennsylvanian ancestry. There is also a Canadian census site, and a site put together by a lady researching her own ancestry, which takes us from several Cornish parishes, to Pennsylvania again and then some. A good variety that I hope you can all find some use for. By no means have I added all the Cornish sites out there, but more will be coming soon. Coming this month..... I’m blowed if I know what I’m adding this month! I’ve had a real variety of stuff arriving, including a massive file containing links to New Zealand sites and loads more. I think I even got some links for Polish ancestry, anyone from Poland?? Thanks this month go to.... Blanche Charles For submitting the NZ stuff as mentioned above - it’ll keep me busy for months, love it!! Looking forward to working with you in the next month regards Damien
