Québec does not have a province-wide birth/baptism registry. Some have been made for few parishes. Therefore, one has to rely on church records. Such research is time-consuming unless you know the name of the parish and the approximate time of baptism. Children were normally born in the parish where the parents were married unless the family moved often. But keep in mind that the marriage occurred in Québec in the parish of the bride. For genealogical purposes, marriage dates are more meaningful that DOBs and DODs. Baptism and birth and death and burial dates are no problem in Québec prior to 1800 because of the PRDH data but after that period it is a different story. au revoir, Jean-Marie
