Roll Call Dear readers After 23 years I am still trying to locate the birth of George Crook/Krook who gives his date of birth as 30 October 1894 and place of birth as Montreal, Quebec - bear in mind George was economical with the truth when he was enlisting here in the UK to fight in the second World War, he being too old - so it is possible that although he did definitely lie there is some element of truth in what he said. George is the son of Henry CROOK/CROOK and Sophia FLEMING and is said to have had a brother, name unknown, and a sister Ann Margaret or Margaret Ann. Story goes that Sophia, his mother, was from Limerick so it is possible that either she and/or her husband emigrated in the 1890's possibly from Ireland. Unfortunately nothing else is known. At the rate I am going research-wise I will never find the elusive George, he is almost like the Scarlet Pimpernel of legend ! Can anyone help, please. Regards Eileen - Liverpool, UK
