Hi listers, I have a huge brick wall with my JOSEPH GAREAU dit SAINTONGE. I do not have any parental, birth or marriage information on this Joseph. I do know that he was married from the baptismal records of his 8 children states it, hopefully he was truthful. All I have on Joseph is really his name,and the possibility that his middle name may have been Louis, this taken from the records of the children. [The name Louis is used on his burial record in Ogdensburg NY.] On these records there is not one Gareau relation as a Godparent listed. Louise's family is used a couple of times. I cannot find their marriage which I "think" must take place prior to the Feb 1846 birth of their first child Delphine in Curran, Prescott Co Ontario. Their marriage is not found there. He married a LOUISE MONETTE dit BOISMENU. Louise was b/b/ 20/21/9-1815 St Benoit, Deux Montagnes daughter of JEAN BAPTISTE MONETTE dit BOISMENU and MARGUERITE LAUZON. I have her full family line, and really need to find a marriage for them . Their marriage does not seem to be found there either. The Gareau and Monette can also be found in St Jerome, Terrebonne for 4 children, Curran for another child, St Andre Avellin for two more children. These children are after the 1846 birth of their daughter, and with the help of many other wonderful people the marriage does not seem to take place in any of these places either. They migrate to Ogdensburg St Lawrence Co NY for their final years Joseph in 1887 and Louise 1894. I am a member of the Gareau Family Association and so far Jean Gareau the Pres has not been able to help me find them either. If anyone can advise me on other ways to find this marriage or birth I would appreciate it tremendously. Sincerely, Kristin DeCare
