Good Morning, Because people belong to many mail lists, and may only scan subject lines.-as well - there may be others researching the same family - or may have seen the name/s during their own research. Could save you a few steps. When posting to this or any mail list - it is Always Important: to: 1.Submit the name of interest : Surname in Capital Letters, Given name, Location - and time frame if known: - On The Subject Line: Eg: JACKSON,Adam,Ontario, 1915> 2. I assume that your grandfather is no longer living.Do you know where he passed away.? Have you obtained a Long Form DEATH CERTIFICATE / REGISTRATION? This may have personal information, date and place of birth, names of parents - including maiden name of mother if known to informant. name of spouse, occupation, perhaps cause of death. The obituary - may give some information - including names and locations of children - siblings etc. *Funeral Home - may be able to help - copy of obituary - informant etc. name of Cemetery where burial occurred. 3.Contact the Ontario Vital Stats - for your Grandfathers Birth/Certificate/ Registration Long form - you will need to prove that he is deceased. There will be a fee for service - I believe $27.00. 4.Are your parents no longer living.? Are there family papers?. 5.Do you have Aunts and Uncles - connected to your Paternal/Maternal side - the child of this grandfather]. ? are there family members connected to these families - who may be able to help. 6. Did your grandfather serve in the Military: His military records may be available. 7. Do you know where your grandfather worked ? Although Personel records are probably considered private - perhaps some information would be made available to you. 8. Have you subscribed - and posted to the Rootsweb Mail List - For Ontario.? remember the Subject Line. 9.
