He is the son of William and Hannah Shield. Hannah formarily an Armstrong. Siblings were Thomas William born 1875, Frances E born 1877, Mary E born 1872 and Chester born 1886. My father remembers that John was a minister of religion and an MP for Ottowa possibly around 1910 or this is the time he emigrated. louise
