Author: Stella_Stanger Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.cangenweb/5367.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: It took many years - many petitions,letters many people - led by Gordon Watts - Sentator Lorna Milne - Murial Davidson etc to to finally obtain the release of the 1901 Census for Canada. Then - more petitions -more letters - more time - for the release of the 1906 then the 1911 Census. There were many obstuctions put in the way - but finally the will of the people prevailed. The LDS has indexed / released the 1916 Census for the 3 Prairie Provinces Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba. I don't know how complete this is - some of my family members and connected family do not appear. As with many Census - some transcriptions are in error - some errors in spelling by the enumerators - The Next Census that should be availabe - will be the Census for 1921.
