I'm searching for my great grandfather Eric Lionel ARMSTRONG who was born circa 1880. During 1911/12 Eric left the mining village of Maesteg, South Wales to sail to Canada where he worked as a mining engineer in Minto, New Brunswick. In November 1912 his youngest daughter Amy age seven was sent to join her father Eric, leaving her mother Lydia and older sister Ella behind. Amy died unmarried in Victoria, BC in 1983. Her occupation was a nurse. Eric ARMSTRONG was also a Music Teacher and could play any stringed instrument. According the 1901 UK census Eric was born circa 1880 in Fernhill, Worcestershire, UK - although there is no record of his birth. It was rumoured in the family that Eric was Hungarian, whether this was true or not I've no idea. Other family gossip suggested that Eric had married again in Canada and had twins sons. When Amy was a young woman possibly 18-21 she had a photograph taken at a studio in Moncton, NB which was sent to her mother. After this there was no other contact (that I'm aware of) from Eric or Amy. I would love to discover what happened to Eric - when he died - did he have more children? - where he lived for the rest of his life. If anyone has any suggestions as to where I could look next to find more information, I would very much like to hear from you. Many thanks for reading this message. Jill Wiseman UK
