I have traced my family line of Chaters back to the 1700s. They came from Earsdon Tynemouth they are all called Chater without the 's'. My grandfather Richard Chaters is in the following census if you think your line could fir in please get back to me. You will be connected either directly or indirectly its just a matter of finding the connection, easy said! Any way take a look if this rings any bells let me know. You can see the spelling of Chaters is never the same on census.
