    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/7aB.2ACEAE/907.3.2 Message Board Post: Hi John, There is a Thomas GILBANK listed in the 1870 US Census, in Lancaster, Nebraska. He is a farmer aged 33 years, and was born in England. The value of his Real Estate was $3,200 (one of the three highest on the page) Has a wife May/Mary (not sure which - it's difficult to decipher) aged 31 and born in Wisconsin (USA). They have three Children: Son "James" aged 5, Son "?eddy" aged 3 (looks like Zeddy) Daughter "Eln??a" aged 5 months (possibly Elnora or Elnia) All the Children were born in Nebraska. --------------------------- Also on the 1870 US Census for Mendon, Monroe, New York; Is a John GILBANK aged 37. Born in England, his proffession is "Painting" He has a Wife Mariah, aged 36, (also born England) and a son Henry, aged 16 born New York -------------------------- There is what appears to be a second generation Thomas in Kendall Town, Wisconsin on the 1900 Census aged 35, Father born England - married to Ellen (39) ------------------------ Mark GILBANK didn't seem to exist up until the 1910 Census, aged 81 as father in law, in Mineral Point, Iowa, Wisconsin (weird, because Iowa and Wisconsin are two different states - though I believe neighbouring). The house head is a Joseph COLEY (34) wife Pearl (27) Children Verna (5) Wallace (3) Della (1) (The transcription of the family name looks wrong to me - It looks like COLEY begins with an "O" or a maybe "Q", rather than "C" - but who knows?) Interesting to note, there is also a Thomas GILBANK (aged 13) Born Wisconsin - working next door but one to the above family as a servant! ------------------------- There's a Wisconsin marriage: Mark GILBANK 17 Sep 1879, County of Iowa That would make your Mark 50 at marriage, so likely a later generation or nothing to do with your Gilbanks ------------------------ There is an Immigration record of a Thomas in 1865, and a Seth in 1892. New York Passenger list in 1856 of a John GILBANK from England aged 22 ----------------------- Hmmmm - then there is a John on the 1906 CANADIAN Census born 1831, in England. He's in Red Deer, Alberta with what appears to be his son's family - but it's impossible to read very much at all! Sorry. ------------------------ Hope that little lot gets you started! Good luck with it!
