I am hoping to contact descendants of Edmund Chaters. Edmund immigrated to Canada in 1934, he was age 33 at the time. I have his Departure; he sailed on the Montclare for Halifax, Nova Scotia. He left from Liverpool. He was born Wardley Gateshead Durham 1900, he went to join his brother in Law William Maddison in British Columbia. His wife Jane nee Fletcher joined him 3 month later, she sailed on the Letitia with their 2 children Edith age 13 and John age 2 (I think Edith was the daughter of Jane before she married Edmund) They sailed from Glasgow. He returned briefly in 1960, I remember him vaguely coming to see my gran, she had been married to his brother Richard, and was then a widow. He left England 15 July 1960 for Halifax Canada. He had been staying in Gateshead, St Cuthberts Rd. I do not know yet of the connection, but he and most of his sibling were born in Gateshead, so I presume he was staying with family. He was also still married his occupation was a foreman. So if anyone can help trace decensands, please let me know Best wishes Kathy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. We have also been sent the following: "In the 1926/27 directory, a Frank Anger, a porter, is listed as living at 5436 Third Avenue. By the time of the 1930 Directory, a Frank Anger is listed as a butler, at 700 Coolbrook. In the 1935 directory, he is listed as Frank Angers, a butler, 44 Cartier, Ville St. Laurent. I cannot find him in the 1940 directory." If this is "our" Frank and Margaret Anger, can you suggest which church record to check for death? Thank you for your help. We knew one of the Anger (Ainger) family went to Canada, we had a couple of family photos taken in Canada with "Love from Frank" on the back and one(?) of his sons came to England just after the Second World War and tried to get my parents to move to Canada. Thats all we had to go by! Through Ancestry and Genes Reunited we know it was Frank (Francis - born Ingatestone June 1891) who went to Canada in June 1921 and married Margaret Hood (born Glasgow August 1897) who had emigrated to Canada with her parents in December 1920. Frank and Margaret married in 1924 at Montréal (Presbyterian Fairmount Taylor) church. They returned to the UK for a visit from Feb to July 1925. The Montréal (Presbyterian Fairmount Taylor)church records show birth/baptism of Helen Margaret Anger (11/11/1925 & 3/1/1926). Through your help we now know Helen married William Charles Anderson. If we could find Helen's brother - and assumning he is still alive, I could put him in touch with my Mum who he last saw 60 years ago!!! Obituaries can also be helpful - in locating names of other family membes - and their locations at the time. cheers, Stella Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It looks like the first of all the kids was born in Vermont. My great grandfater Philip is the odd duck. I see him in the 1900 census but cant find him before that. I know that he was born in Quebec in 1863. The death registration, would it have the town of birth on it? I am starting to think that his name was probably not Philip, I am guessing that he americanized it like most of my other ancestors did. Maybe Philippe. I am a novice at this.
