It puzzles me that the US is getting ready to release the 1940 Federal census in the next couple of years and here we are in the " true north strong and free" and we can't have public access to the 1921 census. Something is wrong with this picture. The heads of households and spouses of those that were enumerated in 1921 would more than likely be in a cemetery somewhere, so I can't seem to see an issue with the identity of those people being stolen. Just a thought. Michael Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have seen the 1906 census at LDS and Ancestry.com. Again this doesn't deal with the issue of trying to find the people that were homesteading from 1911 to 1920. Then - more petitions -more letters - more time - for the release of the 1906 then the 1911 Census. There were many obstuctions put in the way - but finally the will of the people prevailed. The LDS has indexed / released the 1916 Census for the 3 Prairie Provinces Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba. I don't know how complete this is - some of my family members and connected family do not appear. As with many Census - some transcriptions are in error - some errors in spelling by the enumerators - The Next Census that should be availabe - will be the Census for 1921. The 1911 census has run its course in the way of being useful. Any homestead families that applied for patents after 1911 are not listed. It seems that families in transition from the US to Canada between 1910 and 1912 are "lost". I have noticed also that some of the census are missing for parts of Sask.
