He married Jane brown who was born in Glasgow, Scotland. I am not sure if they met on the boat coming over to Canada or met once they arrived. I do know that they came from Chatham by covered wagon to Headingly, Manitoba. My grandmother Alice Evelyn Kenney was born March 8, approx 1898(?). Any help would be appreciated.

    1. [CGW] Update to St. George NB, Parish Page
    2. Charlene Beney
    3. This is just a small update so it will be under the last 'What's New' Page. I added the obit of Mrs. Elizabeth Clark (found under surname 'Norman') to the St. George Rural Cemetery-Old-Part 2. I also added a picture of the Magaguadavic Falls without the St. George Mill. The mill was built in 1902 so this is a very special picture. I have never seen a picture of the gorge without the mill. If you look closely you will see a horse and wagon crossing a wooden sideless bridge from the left side of the gorge to the right. You will find this picture under 'Magaguadavic River and Falls' section of Historical Pictures. Charlene Beney Coordinator for St. George, NB Parish Page http://www.rootsweb.com/~nbpstgeo/

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Schnabel Conrad & Barbara Elizabeth Pfeiffer Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/7aB.2ACEAE/564 Message Board Post: Conrad Schnob/Schnable married a Elizabeth Barbe Pfeiffer, married about 1750 came to Canada in 1777. Not sure if they married in Canada or Germany. Conrad Schnabel was a Hessian-Hanau Jaeger (Soldier) who fought for the British in the American Revolution 1777/79 There is an excellent Hessian researcher John Merz you may want to look him up. He was very helpful in find Conrad Schnabel. A great many German immigrants came over during the American Revolution and then stayed in States or moved to Canada as my Grandfather did. However a George Shnob moved to Plattsburg NY and raised his family there. He was originally a Schnabel as well. Conrad stayed in Quebec after the American Revolution and fathered six children that we know of. The sons and daughter spelled their last name a number of ways. My direct grandfather was Jean Baptiste Schnabel/Chenable and my name eventually turned out to be Schnob so the tradition of misspelling the family name goes back a long way. I have since changed my name to Jack Scott. How is that for a stretch? In anycase below is the following He came from Lower Saxony just south of Hannover German in 1777 and he married Elizabeth Barbe Pfeiffer. I am looking for more on the Schnabel family or families in Quebec. Conrad/Konrad SCHNABLE / SCHNAEPPEL/Schnabel & Barbe-Elisabeth PFEIFFER. I found 7 children : 1. Jean-Baptiste CHENABLE bpt. 21-09-1782 Chateauguay (godparents : Jean-Baptiste KURT - chasseur, Sebastien BURGEY - chasseur & Marie Primeau) 4. Christian SCHNABEL bpt. 29-09-1785 Holy Trinity Québec (godparents : Christian KRESTMANN & M-Magdeleine ? Casparin) 5. Suzanne SHOPEL bpt. 29-06-1788 Québec (godparents : George Andrews & Suzanne Doucet) 6. Barbe SHNABEL bpt. 06-10-1791 Mascouche (godparents : Jean-Baptiste FETTER & M-Charlotte Mineau ou Heneau) 7. Mary Snaple bpt April 6, 1794 Sorel Quebec baptism of Mary, daughter of Francis and Barbara Snagel, (Godparents sponsors) Daniel Doerge and William Bozack Conrad SCHNABLE signs on only one baptism record (Suzanne) as Francois SHNAPPEL. There is more. On the marriage record of Jean-Baptiste SHENABLE & Marie Laberge (09-08-1809 Chateauguay), the parents are identified as : Jean-Baptiste SHENABLE, laborer, native of the electorate of Hanover and Elisabeth ... from this parish ". The witnesses are : Sebastien BURGEY, Francois Dumaine an Timothee Laberge (father of the bride). Sebastien Burgy / BURGEY was a surgeon of the Hesse-Hanau, co. Castendyck.
