The Canada Pension Plan was initiated in 1968 I believe and records are not accessible to my knowledge. Registries are held on a provincial basis not on a country basis. For deaths, you need to contact the Vital Statistics of each province to my knowledge. With regard to Québec, there is a registry for deaths available on CD, it covers the period of 1925 to 1995; same for marriages. A lot of Genealogical societies have bought copies of this CD. bonne chance, Jean-Marie

Hi Linda, I possibly may be wrong - but - I don't believe that we have anything similar. Perhaps because of concerns about Privacy. In British Columbia - we release our Death Registrations as Public Record after the 20th year. Other Provinces have different time frames - some not till 75 years or more. [We have just completed a 4 year fight to have the release of the 1906 Census for the three Prairie Provinces that came into existence in 1905 - privacy concerns by certain areas of Govt - we are now fighting for the 1911 > which appears to be on it's way - with future Census under question and with restrictions of access for possibly 112 years - to late for me.] unlike the U.S. which has released the 1930 Census. Perhaps a Good Idea - would be to re post your quest. Including the name of the person you are researching. This would help all of us - attempt to help you . Someone may be related - a friend etc - or have other sources of research. CANADIAN LEGION - LAST POST MAGAZINE: may be of help. Search for the name here. http://www.legionmagazine.com/lastpost/ Cheers, Stella At 10:09 AM 4/6/03 -0600, lwil2@hotmail.com wrote: >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/7aB.2ACEAE/719 > >Message Board Post: > >Hello to fellow researchers, Would anyone know if there is a Canadian >equivalent to the U.S. Social Security Death Index? J' being the personal pronoun equating to I in English. I was very interested by you msg containing the 1881 Census data for Michel and Mathilda. I feel strongly that this is the right couple. But still cannot find a marriage record in Québec for them. COuld you go back to the internet site and find out in what Province, town or Census district they were located. St-Guillamette does not exist in Québec. Could that be St-Guillaume. THere might be a St-Guillemette in NEw Brunswick but I am not aware of it. I am puzzled by this case and will help to solve it. Another option would be that this couple was married in the USA and returned to Québec at the time of the 1881 Census. au revoir, Jean-Marie

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/7aB.2ACEAE/680.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Hi Sharon: The marriage directory for Madawaska Co. which also incl. the nearby part of Maine, lists Félix's marriage record. His parents are said to be Jos. St-Pierre and Sophie Pelletier. However, it does not contain the marriage record of the latter couple. Neither does the Maine's marriage database because the data are for a period commencing after Félix's marriage. Félix's marriage record cannot be found in Québec either. My guess is that Félix and Sophie got married either in New Brunswick but outside Madawaska Co. or in a part of Maine which is not covered by the marriage repertory for Madawaska Co. So you should look in these two areas for their marriage record. Once you have done so and made the connection with an ancestor married in Québec, I should be in a position to help. au revoir, Jean-Marie

But they are a bit of an issue with all of the name changes and immigration stuff. I am hoping that someone out there can help me. My grandfathers parents where as fallows: Oscar Strandberg who we believe was born the 21 of February 1880 and died sometime between 1965 and 1969. He had a brother named Alexander and they both immigrated from Sweden. Supposedly there was a name change in his family somewhere, either by him or his family from Sackrison (Actual Spelling Unknown) to Strandberg. Oscar was known to go by the name of Stramberg as well. He was an adapt musician and died in NY. He was married to Margaret Mary Perron or so my family believes but we have been unsuccessful at finding a marriage date. We do know that they had several children together, Frederick, Robert, Carl, Pauline, and Marjorie Strandberg. My grandmother tells me that she may have been born in Canada or lived in Canada but her parents are both French Canadian. She spent most of her life in Michigan, where she died. Her parents where as fallows. George Perron aka George C. Perron aka Pierre Celestin aka Pierre Celestin Perron who was born May 13, 1886 and died Octorber 5, 1950 (Under the name of George Perron). The death date is confirmed by my grandma who went to the furneral but as to where he was born...my family says Canada but no one has been able to confirm that. He did however work for the railroad and retired from it March 23, 1938 under the name of Pierre Celestin Perron. He was married to... Marie Tersista Celestin aka Marie Tersita Perron aka Theresa Marie Perron aka Theresia M. Perrron aka Teresa M. Perron aka Marie Perron. My family says she is also born in Canada probably around 1872. She died in August 25, 1957 under the name of Theresia M. Perron which was confirmed by my grandmother who was there for that funeral as well. She lived in Michigan for many years along side her husband Pierre Celestin Perron or George Perron. No one knowns what Theresa's maiden name was. That is it, all I have. I know it seems like a lot but with all the name changes it has been nothing but a kick in the butt. As far as I can tell neither Theresa nor George had Social Security Numbers, but they did both die in Michigan. My grandmother is unable to tell me if they had any other children other then Margaret Mary Perron. They may have also used the name Peron or Perin. Any help would be greatly appreciated and you can e-mail me at the fallowing e-mail. littleprowlertylo@earthlink.net Thank you for your time... Michelle Moore
