Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/7aB.2ACEAE/768.2 Message Board Post: Hi Kathy: You are wasting your time writing to the ANQ on Viger St. The church records in Québec have been microfilmed by the Mormons (LDS). so get the microfilm for that period and for Varennes (Verchères is the County) and make a photocopy using a viewer with photocopying capability. Your local or regional genealogy centre or library or the Regional Family center of the Mormons could get the microfilm for you. In Québec, the records are now under the control of the Directeur de l'État civil (Vital records). Parishes do not issue copies anymore. This is also an option. You have to prove that you are related to these people. Get a transcript or the marriage record which contains more info than the certificate. Go to the internet site of the Dir. of l'État civil and you may send your request via internet (this option was not entertained about 6 months ago because of the large backlong but may be available now) or print the form and mail it. The charge for each transcript will be shown on the site. This is far more expensive than the microfilm avenue. bonne chance, Jean-Marie Jean-Marie http://etatcivil.gouv.qc.ca/ENGLISH/Default.htm
