    1. [CGW] Looking for FAMILY of JOSEPH FLORIAN MARTEL of Montreal, QC, Canada
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/7aB.2ACEAE/788 Message Board Post: Looking for any information or persons at all connected the surname MARTEL with any knowledge of a Joseph Florian MARTEL. He was married to an Elisabeth DAWKINS in the years of 1953-1993 (she passed away in 1993). We have information about the DAWKINS family of Maryland, and later Upper Darby, PA, and further connections to that family. Now still searching for a connection to the surname MARTEL. Connection to DAWKINS is by marriage sometime around 1953. Joseph Florian MARTEL was born sometime around 1929. He possibly returned to Canada (from Philadelphia, PA) around 1954. Also there were sisters of Joseph Florian MARTEL, much younger (maybe born around 1947), were known to be Lucille and Denise. Last known address was Catherine St. "??Chambley a' Longuierl???" said to be a suburb of Montreal, QC, CANADA. But, I am unsure of spelling or anything of that suburb. And if either of the sisters were married, the married names are unknown. This is not for genealogy, it is ! for purpose of finding birth family. If you know anything, please contact me. Thank you.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/7aB.2ACEAE/775.1 Message Board Post: Hello Anne: Thomas Larbey (son of Thomas Larbey and Euphémie Bouvie (or Bouvier) and Philomène Lebel (d.o. Jean-Baptiste Lebel and Émélie Ouellet) were married at Beauport, 19 Apr 1877. I have not been able to find the marriage record for Buphémie and Thomas Sr. Larbey is not a surname common in Québec. Initially I thought that it could have been Labbé but I have not found such connections with Labbé. Bouvie appears to be Bouvier. With regard to Étienne Ouellet dit Crochet I have not seen any such reference in the marriage repertory I have consulted. Similarly, Drouin's (1630 to 1765) does not associate the dit name of Crochet to Ouellet. However, in another publication, it is said that some Ouellet may be known as Crochet. In Drouin's work: no listing under Crochet. A crochet is a hook. A wild guess: dit names were often associated to geographical features. This Ouellet might have lived along a river that formed a hook (crochet) and thereby: Ouellet dit Crochet. I have some ancestry of Étienne but I believe that you may have it already. If not let me know. Jean-Marie Hull,Québec
