Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/7aB.2ACEAE/811.1 Message Board Post: Searching for information on Frank or Frances or Francois Carter or Cartier born on this date. Due to Census if lists born in "Canada" means lower Canada or Ontario if this is true then Frank would have been born in Ontario. I found on Frank's death notice his birth date is 3/21/1844 and his death date 3/28/1922. Informant did not know his parents names. Place of birth is only listed as "Canada". This is all I have at this time. Louisa's "His Wife" parents names "Joseph and it looks like Vamild or Vanild and mother looks like "Joie La Plant" Hard to read handwriting. both parents born in Canada.

We mustn;t forget that the information on a death certificate is only as good as the people who supply it. Apparently he was a loner with no(known) next of kin. I also know that the funeral expenses were paid by a priest. I have tried to contact this person but have had no reply. The other info re his mother and father and many siblings I already have that. What I want to verify is - Are Frederick Alfie and Firmin Elphege the same person??

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/7aB.2ACEAE/824.1 Message Board Post: The first census of Upper Canada (Ontario) was done in 1851 (actually done in early 1852). There are many sections missing and some of the microfilming quality is poor but some information is available. I believe that it is available through the LDS Family History Center. Further census' were taken in the "1" year (1861, 1871, etc.) There was a census done in 1842 but I don't think it was very complete. Look at http://www.archives.ca/02/02020205_e.html Good luck.
