I am not familiar with this surname in Québec. Could have been D'Arcy. My wife and I have tried to figure out the name of the town where the letter is originating and cannot do so. It looks like COMMERE. GIven that there are some spelling errors in the body of the letter, Commere could be the phonetic result of the name of the town rather than the correct spelling. They lived on Garnier st. Not a major city in Québec. Unlikely to be a US city given the name of the street. On the basis of the pictures, it appears more obvious that the writer is a widow. Hello everyone: I am fairly new to family research I came across this site (I think from pure luck received at lucky hat . com) anyway, I am looking for military records or anything else I can find on my grandfather JOSEPHAT SAUCIER married to Emma Picard. On my Grandfather's tombstone in Scare-Coeur Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria, Glengarry County, Ontario, Canada it states that he served with the Eastern Ontario Regiment as Pte. (I assume as a Private). Would you have any other info as to where this Regiment was located, are they Loyalists, dates of enrollment, or perhaps to whom I could write to to get a copy of this military record, cost etc, any and all info regarding this Regiment would be greatly appreciated as I cannot find anything else regarding my grandfather. This is some of the info that I hope helps to direct you to any information whether it be birth, marriaged, death, land, census, ships records or anything else that helps to locate info on my grandfather Josephat or great-grandfather Napoleon Saucier. NOT SURE IF DELIE & ALINE ARE SAME PERSON--haven't been able to confirm this data. PLEASE SEND SOURCES FOR THESE RECORDS OR FOR THE DATA THAT YOU FIND. THANKS !!!!!!!!! Dear listers, This is a friendly reminder to please make sure your anti-virus software is up to date. We should all be doing a DAILY virus scan on our computers. Although you cannot get a virus via Rootsweb mail lists, if you are in the address books of list members, family and friends, you may receive a virus. You can do a free Virus Scan online at: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ The free scan certainly does not "replace" having anti-virus software installed and "up-to-date" on your computer. There is another Virus that is spreading rapidly and I urge you to please be careful with emails containing attachments, even from people that you know. If you are not sure, ask the person if they have sent you an email attachment before you open it. Some of these Viruses "fake" the sender and the subject line may look like it is from a mail list. Remember, a Rootsweb mail list message will never have an attachment. Please read the info at the link below on the latest threat. A lot of it may seem like garbbly-gook and it is long, but read it anyway, especially the sections about what subject lines and file extensions this virus uses. It may save you a headache later. W32.Bugbear.B@mm http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.bugbear.b@mm.htm l Please do not respond to this message or begin a virus discussion on the list. Thanks.
