You didn't state whether your great-grandfather was an adult or a child when he migrated to Canada. If he could have been a child or a teen-ager, you might want to learn about the "British Home Children." http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~britishhomechildren/ I just checked the BHC Data Base at the NAC web site, and there were over 280 "Home Children" with the surname, JOHNSON. I didn't spot a Louis JOHNSON, but I did see several Frederick JOHNSON's.

I think you will find her to be North American Indian. Perhaps Henry WAS in Canada and returned home to England. I believe Elenor did have a brother William living beside her in Hastings North. You can find this on LDS site, 1881 Canadian Census. (Family Search) Also on the Family Search Site, you can find Castle's. Regarding marriages in Canada: In the Address Box, type in Ontario Marriages. This will give you a few sites to work with. Try Cyndlist.com. I believe it is on one of the Ontario Marriage sites. Scroll down to Canada. Happy Hunting. Ciao for now. Sandy

George was 3 at that time. I have the name Elner/Elenor Jane Jarman as William Kings first wife. Her father was Henry Jarman/Garman. I beleive the Jarman spelling is correct, since I have seen it spelled that way most often. I don't have Henry Jarmans wifes name. I believe they will be found in the same area as the King's though. I am very interested in finding a marriage for William King and Elenor Jarman. Going by the age of the first child, I would say the year would have been abt 1874 in Canada. Can you tell me how I can get information on births or marriages that were in Canada? I appreciate your help. Thank you very much, Cindy (o:
