    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/7aB.2ACEAE/970 Message Board Post: I am seeking Marie Anna Heon, born on May 30, 1866 and baptized on May 31, 1866 in Warwick to Louis Heon and Agnes Eusebe nee Baril. The family emigrated from there to northern Michigan, USA before the next child was born in MI in 1867. Since Anna does not appear in the 1870 or 1880 U.S. censuses, I am wondering if she died in Warwick? Is there a cemetery there or where do I look for her possible death record? The family was Catholic. If she survived, perhaps she entered a convent, since there were many Baril descendants who became nuns. The family name was changed to Remo in Michigan (Heon-dit-Raymond). I have located all of the children except Anna and a son, David, born in Michigan. Any help will be much appreciated.

You've got quite a mix. How can you keep it straight? At least you can truthfully tell someone you belong to the same grouping as they do. I wrote you quite a solliqy but then I clicked on something and everything disappeared. There needs to be a 'save' button for us unwashed. Here's trying to recreate. I'm 5/6 German and 1/6 French according to my ancestry back to 1700. ALL my German ancestors came from Treis-Karden, Germany on the Mosel River. That made my searches very easy. I think there was a lot of "intermarriage" within the towns, just like the Peloquins. My gr grandfather, Jacob Marx, came from Treis in 1857, landed in Quebec, then came directly to Springfield, IL. He married Anna Gertrude Senger in 1859 who apparently followed him from Treis (we are all lovers). Most of the Treis residents worked in the wine fields or the winery. Jacob Marx invented "sodding", the practice of laying down mature grass instead of seed. He also was the Springfield courthouse Janitor and knew Abe Lincoln very well. He sold his vegetables to Mary Todd Lincoln but she wouldn't pay him so he had to ask Abe for the money. She made him go to the back door. Some of my ancestors were Priests and Nuns so we weren't all bad. So far I haven't found any jailhouse relatives but I did find a relative who died in a mental institution. I created a website for my ancestry in 2002. It's at www.themarxfamily.net/roots. I'm working on a lot of new things to fill in the blanks and will update in a couple weeks. I did use Surname Navigator for Germany at http://www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator/germany/index.html but I didn't know there was a general one. By the way, I gather you've got all the search steps written down so you can remember them. I had looked up Credit in the same place but didn't find Alfred. I guess I missed a step. If my words are too big, let me know.

    3. Hi everyone: We just had our family reunion on Aug 16th and it went well. No discord. Unfortunately, the two people I was hoping to see were not there due to illness. I wanted to ask them some questions about their parents. Anyway, I gave everyone a copy of their genealogy as far as it went and it was a big hit. Now I have a question. I was given some pictures of my grandparents and both of them are in military uniform. But the person who gave them to me was not sure what war that would have been or what kind of uniform it is. The pictures are just photocopies so the detail is not clear. The grandparents - George Speck was born in 1878 and Laura Speck was born in 1887. It probably was WW1? They were living in Niagara Falls and so maybe they were protecting the St. Lawrence Seaway. Just a guess because my aunt was in the military also in WW2 and that is what she did. So the question is: how do I find out what branch and what they did? And is it worthwhile to try and find this info - will it take me any further in finding out anything - or will it just be for color? I look forward to hearing from you guys. Thank you. Gerri "the love you take is equal to the love you make"

Basically means I'm giving you a medal and acclaim for your heroism and it's good for a year, or until you do something better for me! (Please look up the big words in an English Dictionary). Who's Wayne Gretsky? I remember some guy with a name like that that jilted the St. Louis Blues so he could grab some glory time in New York. He did however, marry a beautiful St. Louis area girl. By the way, thanks for the school lesson. I'm having fun.

I did as you asked and got the following: LIBOIRE EDOUARD ALFRED PELOQUIN-CREDIT - International Genealogical Index / NA Gender: Male Christening: 09 MAY 1871 Sorel, Richelieu, Quebec. This info corresponds well with some other data I've found. Christine Kowal gave me a clue; "Peloquin is another name for Credit as in "François Péloquin dit Crédit". Using that info I've reviewed a Peloquin family tree and found Claxite and Marie Collett who had 11 children. I originally thought they could be Fred Credit's parents because of the date range but of their 11 children listed, there was one who was christened Dec 28, 1868 which would make a May 9, 1869 birth date highly improbable. Of the 11 children, LIBOIRE EDOUARD ALFRED PELOQUIN-CREDIT is not listed either, nor is there any name close to that. Neither is there is any with an 1871 birth date. My grandfather could have forgotten his birth year (everybody remembers their date though). Now that a May 9 1871 birth date is possible this could be another child of Claxite and Marie Peloquin. I've sent an Email to Jean Peloquin who is in charge of the Peloquin family tree, so we'll see what he says. The Sorel, Richelieu, Quebec location by the way includes Three Rivers. I'm excited. This could well be my grandfather! Kudos to you. You've done your good deed for the year.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/7aB.2ACEAE/965.1 Message Board Post: Hello Bill: School is now in! NEVER try to trace roots in Quebec with a simple name. Believe me, I've tried! I think you will find it easier to print out the following. That was lesson one, now onto number two. I know you have been here before, but go to: http://www.familysearch.org This will bring you to the site of Latter Day Saints. Right? Now, on the top beside the word home, click on SEARCH. On the left side click INTERNATIONAL GENEALOGICAL INDEX. Are you still with me Bill? Now it gets harder but trust me and pay attention, because I ask questions at the end. Enter only the following: First Name: LIBOIRE Last Name: PELOQUIN-CREDIT Father: CALIXTE Last Name: PELOQUIN-CREDIT Mother: MARIE Last Name: COLLETTE Event: BIRTH/CHRISTENING Year Range: + or - 2 years Year: 1869 Region: NORTH AMERICA Country: CANADA Province: QUEBEC CLICK SEARCH. OK, what did you get? I'm not saying this is your Fred, but anything is possible. If you had a handle like this, would you not drop the first half and only use the Credit? Could also be a relative! How reliable is the information about your Fred's birth? I mean date and place. If you are sure he was born in Trois-Rivieres, 1869, keep hunting. But you will have a longer name then Credit as you can see. Also use Alfred. If you think this is your Fred on the International Index, then someone has already researched the family I believe. **Note** I believe if you enter only the LAST NAMES, you will find more Peloquin-Credit, some in Trois-Rivieres. OK, school is out for now. Don't forget to report in as to your findings so I can grade you!!! Ciao for now. Sandy
