Jul 1929, Newport RI. Married Thomas H. Millington. (my great grandparents) Her parents were Joseph Atkinson and ??? Sheldon. Montreal. This is as far back as I have been able to get with this line. I would love to know if the Atkinsons were loyalists who left this country or English and went directly to Canada. Hope this has helped although I doubt it. Brad

    2. Ian Donaldson
    3. G'day from Australia. I would appreciate some help and advice. I am trying to locate a family member that migrated to Saskatchewan in the early 1920s. I have the Immigration records that show he went to a farm near Regina to help his father farming. I have found some land records in his name and they quote Liber, Folio (etc). I would like to know what those records would show and just how I could get to look at them. Also just how can I check on Deaths & Marriages?. Thanks in advance Ian Donaldson

Je me cogne continuellement à mur. He was thought to be from Toronto, maybe born in the 1870s, married Lilly Matilda England of Regina, was with the Canadian Royal Northwest Mounted Police from 1900 to 1904 (RCMP files) living in Dawson City barracks in 1901 census. After discharge he and Lilly are found on Good Street in Winnipeg where he worked as a contractor and carpenter (1904 City Directory). Lilly died of TB in 1919 in Vancouver, BC. (Vancouver obit) It is believed that Lilly and James Custer Smith separated or divorced. They were known to have had 4 sons and 1 daughter who have all eluded me for 30 years. 1. Gordon William Smith - wife Venita, living in Surrey, BC. 2. James Douglas Smith - ?made living with Ice Capades/Folies or circus 3. Harold England Smith - living in Langley, BC in 1977 4. John Albert Smith - called Bertie by family 5. Harriet Smith England - wife of George Percy England. Harriet worked at Birks (Vancouver). She died in 1977 (obit) and had been raised by maternal aunt, Mrs. Albert Wellington Kain of New Westminster, BC. Lilly's family was from Cobourg, Ontario, going west with the building of CPR. Some of her England relatives established a grocery in Kamloops. I will be greatful for any suggestions on the search for this family.

This may be the person that you are looking for. You can see the scan of his actual Attestation Papers (Enlistment Form) on your screen. It gives his wife's name, etc. There may be more military information available. You would have to make an application for it. See the link to "How to Consult a Record On-Site or Order a Copy" on the web page. Good luck.
