The mother took off when Patricia was just a baby. The father, William Atkinson was a dance instructor in Canada. The mother, first name unknown, was a dance hall girl. This is what I have been told by my mother. Patricia Dawn married Richard N Stroh. His parents/grandparents were from Germany. Does anyone have any information regarding William Atkinson or his estranged wife Smithwaithe?

Maheu on 10 Jun 1822, at St-Denis. However, I checked the church record of St-Denis de Richelieu for that date and did not see the marriage record. Neither in St-Denis' marriage repertory. Is this St-Denis de Richelieu or another one (e.g. Kamouraska) ? I have found the marriage repertory of Pierre Théroux dit Laferté and Geneviève Laroche at Yamaska, 25 Jun 1787. So, François must have been married at St-Denis de Richelieu. When sorted out, will look for siblings of Francois as well as sons and dauthers of Francois. Jean-Marie

Just wondering if you have checked the Archives of the British Home Children List to see if the DRYDEN surname has been mentioned. I see there were 3 DRYDEN children in the BHC data base in the NAC web site. One of them was a David Dryden coming over in 1912 at Age 17. There is a separate BHC data base which is maintained by the List owner of the BHC List. It can be accessed through his web site. - Just do a Google search for "British Home Children" (using quotes).

Are you looking for people who are living? Or, of people who have passed on? If you are looking for your ancestors, what years did they arrive in Canada. My great-grandfather, John Stanley LEWIS, arrived in Canada in 1874 .. as a "British Home Child." I believe he had a sister, Josephine LEWIS, both Age 14 at the time. (My great-grandmother, Mary Elizabeth CORKILL, also came from Liverpool, England, to Nova Scotia in 1874. She had 4 younger siblings with her.) There are many LEWIS children in the British Home Children data bases.

Born Feb 19, 1900 in Nottingham, England. Mother: Maria Hannah Dryden (nee Royall) Father: Henry Arthur Dryden. Has 3 siblings, 2 from Henry's first marriage: Herbert and Daisy, and then George. Nobody has any idea what's happened to Charles since he arrived in Canada... rumours of letters. No evidence. When Henry passed away in 1909 Maria was left to tend to Charles and George, maybe even Daisy. Money was short, she sold off a few things. Eventually she got the Masonic Lodge that Henry was a member off to help pay for Charles' passage to Canada. He shipped out before 1914. Searched the canadian archives and he's nowhere to be found. Searched possible Royall's in Canada, no matches. Too many Dryden's to attempt.

The three or four children have no place of birth, we do not know if the family moved to the eastern state like a great majority of early canadian settlers and came back to live their last days in their native villages. We welcome your information, we have three family tree prorams My Family Tree Maker by Brueduerbond, P.A.F.
