ANTIC is a central European name. French is spoken in many parts of Canada. Is it possible there has been a misunderstanding, and that someone said, in French, " ..... called ANTIC ....." which would be "...appellé ANTIC...." which sounds very like OPELLIANTIC? Certainly, I have never heard of OPELLIANTIC, and more significantly neither has Ancestry or FamilySearch (LDS). Good luck! You know that Helen - met and Married Joseph BALARDO - in Canada . Have you obtained the MARRIAGE REGISTRATION ?/Genealogical Registration/Long Form Marriage Certificate? -this should have all the personal information required at the time. Showing the name as spelled by Helen.Place of birth of both parties. Will show the names of both sets of parents - including mothers maiden name - and perhaps birth place of the parents. Do you know When/Where - Helen passed away? Her Death Registration/Long Form Death Certificate - will show her Maiden Surname - if known to the informant. BIRTH of Children: Did Helen have any children? Have you obtained the Birth Registrations/Long Form Certificates for the children? The Mothers Maiden name - will be shown. Did Helen's parents stay in Canada? Where in Canada.? Helen's father may have applied for Naturalization - Citizenship - but you would need a correct spelling or one pretty close. Records would be available from the Province where Application was made. Do you know When the family arrived in CANADA. Do you know the Port of Arrival? A big job - but a search of Passenger lists -may be helpful Census: If the family were in Canada in 1901 - 1911 Census - still in process of being indexed. U.S.Census - if the parents - also went to the U.S. Cheers, & Good Luck There are 13 BALARDO surnames listed Nationwide - Canada at http://www.mytelus.com

Hello, I don't think I've posted information about my KERR and HENDERSON ancestors recently. For today, I'd just like to ask how many researchers have KERR and/or HENDERSON ancestors who came from -- IRELAND -- in the 1820 to 1850 timeframe ! There are several KERR families in Quebec Province in the early 1800's who "seem to be" related. But, none of the many researchers descended from them can make the connection! The major problem is that, as far as I've heard, none of us can find out who their parents were back in Ireland ! The "family group" I am descended from arrived in Quebec Province in 1823, and they came from County Sligo, Ireland. And, they were born there in the 1785 to 1805 timeframe: William and Mary (KERR) HENDERSON Samuel and Catherine (?) HENDERSON Patrick and Elizabeth (KERR?) KERR Miss Elizabeth KERR (married Levi MILLER in Canada) John and Ann (HENDERSON) KERR (Wouldn't surprise me at all to find out Catherine was a KERR.) They initially settled in Argenteuil County. My great-great-grandparents (cousins) Robert KERR and Elizabeth HENDERSON were born there in 1827, and married there. They eventually moved to Compton County. There appears to have been other KERR families arriving in Compton County (from Ireland) a little later, which seem to have been directly related. There was also a Dawson KERR who initially settled in NB or NS, but eventually moved to Ontario Province, and he seems to have been directly related. I don't recall hearing about other HENDERSON's from Ireland who came to Canada in the early 1800's and might have been directly related. (I do know that "many" HENDERSON's arrived in Canada during the 1800's !) Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) FYI: I have posted information on these families on the Quebec Lists for about 4 years, so further information can be found in the archives of those Lists. And, a long-time researcher has a data base for the above families in a web site, called "Metcalf's Corral." FYI: Robert and Elizabeth KERR eventually followed their children down to Boston, MA. Their oldest son moved down here about 1874, and married here. One daughter did, also. Their two youngest sons came down to Boston, married here, but both couples moved out to Washington State shortly after 1900. I cannot find out what happened to their other daughter. FYI: We believe the above families came from the northern part of County Sligo - perhaps Drumcliff, perhaps the Calry Parish. We have "no" idea where their parents came from ! We don't even know their parents' names !
