Hello Diana George OLIPHANT aged 29 of Fort William, Ontario, born Longside, Scotland (Aberdeenshire, I think) a Bachelor Advertising Manager, Presbyterian, son of Alexander OLIPHANT and Helen formerly SMITH, married Teresa HAYWARD aged 23 also of Fort William, born in Wales, Spinster Stenographer, Anglican, daughter of John HAYWARD and Elizabeth formerly MITCHELL at Thunder Bay on 8th February 1922 in the presence of Arthur and Alys (sic) HAYWARD, both of Fort William. Bride and groom signed the register. Celebrant was H A SIMS (Anglican) of 409 S Archibald Street, Fort William. This was registered on 11th February 1922. There is a marginal note saying "Wed 14 Feb at 9 o'clock" which I take to be a note by the celebrant saying when the registered copy of the certificate would be collected, though I think 14 February 1922 was a Tuesday............. The occuparions for William and Margaret and the 2 eldest sons appears as .surveillasnt M.C.C. Can anyone please tell me what this means? There are 4 other Walsh families shown in the same area with the same occupation: Thomas and his wife Margaret Ann and 2 children Francis G aged 3 and Edith L aged 5 months All born England. I believe this to be William and Margaret's eldest son. Robert Walsh, wife Sarah and 4 children - all born England Thomas Walsh, wife Eliza. a son Ernest aged 11, all born England and a son Allan T aged 1 born Quebec. James Walsh, wife Mary and 2 children all born England. I believe Robert, Thomas and James to be the brothers of William Walsh. I am trying to discover what happened to them all. Did they stay in Canada or go on to the USA? Also looking for any descendants of William and Margaret Walsh and their children. Where would I look for immigration records around 1880/1881 as I believe that would be when William and Margaret arrived in Canada. Any help or guidance most gratefully received.
