One of them was said to have gone to Canada and maybe returned to England at some point. I can find nothing on either of these two, either. -------------------- Kenneth's father: (according to marriage cert to Charlotte above) is: Colin Mackenzie (deceased) Police Inspector (I very roughly estimate his birth to be abt 1850, and believed to be Scotland, not certain.) ------------------- This is all I have on them and cannot find any birth or death or Census records for either. Family says that Colin came down from Scotland and had served in the Perthshire Police force, also. I would love to confirm this either way. It is also said that Kenneth senior (b.1874) spent some time in Battle, Sussex, England. Apparently his death was a result of a fall from a lighting gantry in a film studio - but I don't know when, or how true this is. Does anyone HAVE anything on these Mackenzies; ancestors or descendants?? I have been stuck at this point with them for years now - it's driving me insane! Thanks for reading! Jemm

I will 'try' to help him out but I would need a starting point. The person I am asking about is: James C. (Claude) FISHER. His father's family moved to the Elrose, Saskatchewan area sometime after the 1901 Ontario census but I cannot find them in the 1906 or 1911 census. Maybe someone else might. There was a James Fisher who was granted land at SE 22 - 25 - 15 - W3 which was a few miles south of Elrose. There is a listing in the Elrose Community Cemetery for a Mrs. Frances Fisher but has no dates. This could be James C's mother. So we have three James Fishers: James H. Fisher - grandfather married to Frances [moved to Elrose, SK ] James Claude Fisher - father, was married to Florence [trying to find his death & burial place] James Fisher - one trying to locate his father [still living in Chatham Ontario] This was his family (from the 1901 census in Ontario) before his move out west. Fisher James H. M Head M Oct 30 1856 45 Fisher Francis F Wife M Oct 28 1877 23 Fisher James C. M Son S Jul 8 1897 4 We have three James Fishers and it is James C., son of James H. that I am interested in locating a death location and date and burial location. James Claude joined the CEF in 1917 during WWI and gave his father's name as James and address as Gen'l Delivery, Elrose Sask. James C. , the one I am looking for, gave his address on the attestation form as Gen'l Delivery, Saskatoon. Sometime after the war, James C. was in a Toronto hospital with TB and ended up marrying a nurse named Florence whose parents lived near Cedar Springs, Ont. Then James C. Fisher left his wife and son and went away. Where ? If anyone has access to the 1920, 1930 U.S. census maybe he went to the U.S., possibly Michigan. This is where I am lost in trying to track him down. Where did he go and where did he die and where might he be buried ? Any ideas are welcome.

Hi list, I appreciate for those with no connections it will not be all that relevant but for those with British ancestry, the Yesterdays site contains thousands of names of folks many of whom were strays or strangers, away from their recognised abode or expected parish. The Settlement Certificates and particularly the Settlement Examinations give a good account of what can be found in Record Offices and if you have any such overseas connections with the UK they are well worth the effort in trying to see if such a document(s) survives for your ancestors, particularly if they have "moved". It may be they are even within this list, but if not, it still gives a good idea of what can be found in their respective parishes and County Record Offices. Bastardy records may name the father, Apprenticeships let you know who the young lads and lasses went to serve, some as young as seven years. There may be instances of Apprentices running away because of cruelty on behalf of the Master. Removal documents record those folks who fell on hard times and were removed back to their last legal Settlement. Thousands were moved all over the Country. mike http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~spire/Yesterday/index.htm
