Do not restrict the birth year to 1824 but maybe go +/- 3 years on his birth year. Thanks Jeff

Hello Listers, I am trying to locate or should I say verify a family story. Charles Nisbett Frederick Armstrong, was married to Dame Nellie Melba. He was an engineer born Worthing UK January 1858. It is said he died September 1948, but I don't know where. The other is Charles Patullo b 1855 in Melbourne Victoria Australia. He moved to Queensland and was involved in Sugar Cane, and through this met Charles Armstrong. When Melba and Armstrong, divorced in 1900, it is thought that Armstrong went to Canada, and that Patullo went with him. He disappeared c1900 and no one knows what happened to him. A new Story has just come to light that the State Trustees or equivalent in Vancouver Island, contacted the wife in Qld c 1927, regarding a will. This again is heresay, I am wondering the best places for me to look to see if I can verify any of these stories. Can anyone give me suggestions please regards Beryl

The following page is about the Samson family, one of whom married a Nancy McBrayne, but it contains information about the John and Mary McBrayne as well (2nd paragraph on right side of page). According to the information contained in the book, John and Mary immigrated from Scotland about 1828. Since Angus McBrayne, who died in Toronto in 1885 wasn't born until about 1833, I don't the this John and Mary were his parents. The parents of Angus were more likely John McBrayne and Mary McFarlan. http://www.ourroots.ca/e/page.aspx?id=3746094 Christening entries for the children of John McBrayne and Mary Campbell, born in Scotland, indicate they were baptised in North Knapdale, Argyll. The 1871 census index places John's birthdate about 1783. John McBrayne (b.c. 1830), who was married to Catherine Patterson probably was the son of Dugald McBrayne and Jane McKillop/McGilp, however, I couldn't find anything online that includes the names of his parents (marriage or death records). I only found a record for one of Dugald and Jane's children born in Scotland on the LDS website, although I'm sure there were more. The LDS site has a couple of entries for children born to Malcolm McBrayne and Mary McLarty, who also settled in Yarmouth, Elgin Co. The children of both couples were born in Glassary, Argyll, with the first born son named Archibald, so I would imagine they were related.
