Please excuse my ignorance once again...but I read the post below with a little bit of interest. I clicked on the link, and then 'previous', and 'previous' once again and did not see any surnames mentioned. I am of Polish and Russian descent from my fathers side. I am in Canada. Could there be a one in a million chance that the last names you are questioning are the same as mine? Could you please repeat the surnames for me?? My gg-grandmother was Mary Ann Bird d/o of Benjamin Bird & Elizabeth Graham. Mary Ann was born & baptized in Camden East Twp., Lennox & Addington Cty and married Andrew Rikley. She remained in the Camden area until her death but her brothers moved to Peterborough Cty. I am wondering if anyone has been able to find any further information on either Benjamin & his brother Henry in England or Elizabeth Graham (in Ireland). I have also found a marriage in 1794, Ernestown, Addington Cty for a Henry Bird & Elizabeth Holding...wondering if he also may be related to Benjamin & Henry?? Thank you in advance, Cindy Smith

I do have that info, but not the interesting reason why they left Can. What I am trying to find is who their parents were or where in Ontario they came from as I could then send for records if they exist. Maybe someone who reads this will have some leads. Thanks again and you can E-mail me at <[email protected]> I do e-mail with John Garrow who descends from your same line.

She was born on January 12, 1805 in Canada. She is buried in Saint Patrick cemetery (Lebanon Township, Wisconsin) next to Alexander C. Garrow, my great-great-grandfather. Alexander was also born in Canada. His date of birth is June 15, 1794. Alexander and his wife, Eliza left Ontario after the collapse of the Rebellion of 1837. They lived in Michigan for a few year where Alexander and Eliza had a son, whom they named Alexander. Alexander C. Garrow died in 1870. In 1850 Alexander and his wife received a patent for land in Mukwa, a township near New London, Wisconsin. That land on the Little Wolf River is still owned by relatives who are the decendants of Alexander and Eliza's son, (my great-grandfather). Alxander and Eliza's son, born in Michigan in 1843, was my great-grandfather. He married Elizabeth Fleece. This Alexander was a steamboat Captain on the Little Wolf River and a veteran of the Civil War. This Alexander Garrow died in 1898 and his buried next to his wife in Saint Patrick Cemetery, in the same cemetery where his parents are buried. (The place is full of my early relatives). The name Alexander has been used in every generation of the family since the Garrows left Canada in 1837. There was also a branch of the family in Eureka, Wisconsin. One Captain Garrow there is alluded to in an article in the Milwaukee Sentinel in 1876. He had his horse stolen a trip there. The thief was subsequently caught and Captain Garrow got his horse back. There are also Garrows in Kaukana who are the decendants of Eliza and Alexander C. Garrow.

With Cecilia buried in Crirff. On the census record that you have, does it say what religon they are? You will want your relitive to check out the Parish Churches for records along with the Archives. Another clue is that they married about 1810 in Ireland. Church records might say where they moved from. Also Daniel died 26 Nov. 1873 in Dundee. You might want to get his long form death record for more clues. Hope this all helps in your search. Marie

McHenry was born in Ontario, Canada, August 10, 1861, son of John and Sarah (Leverdy) McHenry, of Belfast, Ireland. In early life, John McHenry was a sailor and then he worked twenty-two years at lumbering in Canada. He came to St. Croix county in 1865, and May 20 of that year bought 320 acres of land, upon which he farmed until 1886, when he moved to New Richmond, Wis., and spent his days in retirement until his death, August 6, 1896. William S. received a common school education at the schools of Richmond, Wis., and then farmed it with his father for seven years. Then he went south, and for three and a half years he was a sheep ranger at Eagle Pass, the point of entry between Texas and Mexico. After this he returned to Richmond Township and traded his fathers farm for the farm upon which he lives at present. Upon this farm he built a house and barns, and made all improvements. He carries on a general diversified farming. Mr. McHenry was married June 2, 1891, to ! Mary Agnes Hogan, daughter of Philip and Katherine (Kavanaugh) Hogan. Her father was one of the early settlers and lives in this section during the latter years of his life until his death, in 1884. Mr. and Mrs. McHenry have five children. Agnes and Katherine are at the New Richmond High school, Irene and Grace attend the lower grades and Robert, twin brother of Grace, died in infancy. Mr. McHenry has been treasurer of the school board sixteen years, and served as town treasurer of the school board sixteen years, and served as town treasurer one term. He is an independent voter, and belongs to the Modern Woodmen and the Catholic Order of Foresters. The family worships at the Catholic Church. Mr. McHenry takes great pride in his farm and works early and late to keep it in its present state of perfection. He is well thought of by all his neighbors and the family is also well regarded throughout the township. I am trying to find a Charles Patullo, born 1855, in Australia he is supposed to have gone to Canada, early 1900's. supposedly to Vancouver Island. I could not find a death listed for him on any of the sites. It may be just a story, that has been invented. I am hoping that someone may have some information. regards Beryl
