I love that Lovells directory, so useful. Yes Charterhouse is quite a well known school over here, we knew he had gone there, not realised one of his brothers had too though. Not sure but don't think the younger two went for some reason. Going to send my uncle all i've (you've) found out so far. :) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You may find a passenger record of the boys landing back in England if you search on your end of things. The Servante family were likely English as it seems they were a military family (based on the witnesses to the kids' baptisms and the marriage record). He is researching a man called Thomas MORLAND b. 1865 Montreal, Canada. Thomas' parents: Thomas MORLAND snr b. UK not sure where or when Helen SERVANTE b. UK poss Hampshire Not sure when or where they married, they had 4 sons, b. 1864-1869. In 1871, the 4 boys are living with their maternal grand-parents in the UK and my uncle believes both the parents have died (between 1869 and 1871) in Canada and the children were sent back to England. Can anyone help with: 1) death records for the parents? 2) poss marriage records for parents? (they may have married in the UK but can't find it so far) 3) birth records for children? 4) entry and exit records for parents and children? Or can anyone help direct me to online resources that might help? [I have found Lovell's annual which gives a poss Thomas Morland snr in Montreal from the late 1840's] Thanks in advance for any help, kt:) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Dear Debra, I noted your name on a request for information on a James Nicolson. I cannot provide any information on the Nicolson family but would be interested to know which branch of the Nicol family you belong to. For several years I have been researching the family of David Nicol and Lillias Smeaton who settled in the Creemore, Ontario area about 1852. In the course of my research I have collected information on many Nicol families and thought that perhaps we might be able to "swap" information.
