A special "tip of the hat" to G. Darrell Swain from St. John's, Newfoundland, the one who was awarded the Centennial Flame Recipient Award for 1999. Darrell spoke during the Status of Persons with Disabilities committee meeting, with Carolyn Bennett, Chair. Darrell's topic, which was very interesting, was the manner in which a disabled person leads a very active life, MARIE WHITE, Deputy-Mayor of St. John's, Newfoundland. He is very deserving of the award, and deserves our applause. Re the Centennial Flame:- At the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa, people visiting it may toss money at the base -- this money is spent on resources to assist the disabled. Signage was discussed -- many did not know of the project -- it was felt more funds might be received. Check <www.cpac.ca> for interesting topics, including HRDC Funds. Muriel M.
