Have you ever had eye-strain trying to decipher census records of years prior to 1901? Church records are great, but do not give the complete family as found on a census record -- have you found this? Senator Lorna Milne, who has Bill S-15 for Post-1901 census release now in committee after the Second Reading, has one favorite statement:- "Census records are the basics of genealogy and family history'". Senator Milne has published several books, is a family historian when time permits her -- I feel we should accept her views. Yes, family researchers and historians are VOTERS -- there are an estimated 7.5 or 8 million of us, plus many who only check their own family records. There are many descendants of Home Children, children scooped off the streets in England, brought here by groups over a period of time. Today, children and grandchildren are searching for their heritage. One older man remembers sleeping in a room with other children -- his brothers or sisters????? The answer has yet to be learned. Believe me, CENSUS RECORDS are a major part of GENEALOGY!!!!! Muriel M. Davidson <davidson3542@home.com> [Researching many Nova Scotia families] >
