To all:- The wording of Motion M-160 was great, would have moved census records to National Archives for safekeeping - then would be under the care of the National Archivist. A not unexpected amendment by a government member reduced Jason Kenney's Motion to diddly-squat (the best term I know). Now, we pick up the pieces and carry on. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/census/index6.htm will give all readers the standing of the Members of Parliament. Find YOUR Member of Parliament and do the following:- 1. Send a "thank you" if he or she has a GOLD tick for YES. 2. It may be impossible to change the eight (8) RED X -- NO MPs. These Members may not listen to you -- although you pay their way! 3. Let us try to get rid of those "nothing" little pieces of GREEN FENCE, it only shows the MP has answered, but has said nothing. Only Yes or NO / OUI ou NON accepted from now on. 4. When YOU elect a Member of Parliament, he or she has a duty to not only their constituents, but as census is of Canadian importance, he or she is responsible to YOU, in another riding. The BLUE ???? have to go -- we must keep bugging these Members until they realize we want an answer. I have found there have been too many replies from UNELECTED ASSISTANTS -- in two instances, the Members of Parliament gave totally opposite answers than the assistants gave. Request:- When you send an e-mail to your Member of Parliament or another, copy it to "The Hon. John Manley - MP <Manley.J@parl.gc.ca> Your MP will likely forward your copy to Manley -- we will be supplying a stack of paper for him to sit on, so he can move off the Report of the Expert Panel. Copy in Stockwell Day <day@canadianalliance.ca> -- he has to know what is going on on the other side of the House of Commons. Also, send a copy to me at <davidson3542@home.com> PLEASE! Turn on your printer, print the e-mail, as is, to YOUR Member of Parliament, pop it in an envelope, seal it and mail -- FREE POSTAGE!! Name of Member /House of Commons/Ottawa, ON KIA 0A6 Let's get moving with PETITIONS -- we have both Senator Lorna Milne's Bill S-15 and its duplicate, Bill C-484 by Murray Calder. Lorna's Bill has passed Second Reading and is in Committee, Murray's Bill has had First Reading. OUR WISH FOR TODAY:- The Hon. John Manley will get tired of us bothering him, he will grab either one of these bills and make it a government bill. It would be definitely passed by majority. Did you know any government bill can be fast-tracked? Let us hope!! Will be looking for copies of your letters -- IF you want census records!! Muriel M.
