But then, I"m not surprised. Several years ago, I nominated a lady from our area for an award for volunteeer work. Several people in our community were nominated. Dr. Pagtakhan did not see fit to present an award to them in front of their peers, as at an afternoon tea, which could have been held at a school or community club. He thought that it was indeed an honor for them to have him come to their home, unannounced, and hand over the medal. This is exactly what happened. Some were in the middle of supper, some had guests over, a few were outside, doing some work. When I questioned him about it, he said it should have been honor enough for them to receive the medallion. I suggested that he could still have a reception for them at the local library, or school, or community club, he didn't think that was necessary. He still thinks the way they were taught in his homeland. Unfortunately, the biggest percentage of people in his riding are from his homeland, and he will never be voted out, unless people get really upset with the Liberals. When I wrote to him via E-mail, I pointed out to him, that as a constituent, he was responsible to me and the rest of the people in his riding to vote on this issue as we instruct him to vote, he never answered my mail. I have written mail to both local papers, the Winnipeg Free Press and the Winnipeg Sun, have not received a reply from them, and have not seen anything about the Census Campaign in either paper. How can we make people aware if the Newspapers can't be bothered?
