    1. [CCC-L] I DARED To Ask for Support --

    3. To all:- I dared to ask one Ontario Member of Parliament if he would be supportive of any Bills and Motions re release of census records. It seems the voting public elect the Members of Parliament, are supposed to forget we pay their salaries when representing us, but dare not ask HOW the Member would vote on a certain issue. Knowing me, I did ask -- the Member of Parliament and his assistant(s) discussed the issue THOROUGHLY, as I was reprimanded in a phone call. The caller left no name, I believe he thought he was talking to someone with half a mind or a giddy teenager!!! I was not impressed! One remark: "Do you honestly believe YOU have a right to know how Mr. ####### will vote? That is his personal business!" [We are VOTERS] I did send a one-sided apology to clear the air -- the person already has a cute little piece of green fence -- which means NOTHING!!! All members of a certain party must vote as ordered!! Generally when an assistant sends the message, we know the name of the person -- we do not expect to deal with the Member of Parliament (we hope they are busy) -- but assistants have names. The following is the answer received -- I directed him to THE MYTHS OF CENSUS -- "they had thoroughly researched the matter":- ---------------------------- Dear Mrs. Davidson Thank you for your letter. I can appreciate your desire to obtain information from census post 1901 and I have made known the views of many on this to both the Minister of Industry and to the Privacy Commissioner. As much I support you, I also recognize those who through the Privacy Act want some data kept confidential. I thank you for taking the time to make your views known to me. UNSIGNED --------------------------- I queried the "some data to be kept confidential" -- no answer!!!!!!! Muriel M. Davidson <davidson3542@home.com> http://www.globalgenealogy.com/census/index6.htm
