Greetings Norma and All. The Conservative Party of Canada does has a Platform. It is viewable in PDF format at http://www.conservative.ca/platform/e/pdf Unfortunately it does not mention public access to Historic Census records. It is regretable that Mr Casey has not gotten back to you but I would hesitate to condemn the entire party because of one person. I will not try to tell anyone how to vote. The following information from the MP Scoreboard on the Post 1901 Census Project website shows the position of the current Members of Parliament. I leave it to the readers to determine for themselves which of the major parties having a chance of forming the next government is most likely to return the public access to Historic Census records that we seek. At least 20 of the current Liberal MPs are not running in the current election. I do not have any numbers for members of other parties that are not running Happy Hunting. In late May I had a conversation with Sean on my doorstep re the platform of the Conservative party re the census issue. To his credit he was aware of the situation and did talk about the death of S-13. He had worked in the office of an Alliance member in the last government so probably saw, not necessarily read, many of our e-mails. Sean did not know what the Conservative party had to say about the census release. In fact the Conservative party does not have an approved platform.... wait until October for that. Sean promised to get back to me in a few days with an answer. No such luck. Ten days ago I e-mailed him asking for a response and suggesting that my vote would be based partly on the position of the Conservative party on this issue. As of today there has been no response again. Am I voting Conservative??? Not likely. Norma Nepean
