    3. Hi Lorraine. Dr. Fellegi was appointed by the Prime Minister of the time about 1983/84 (?). Similar appointments for the positions of Information Commissioner, Privacy Commisioner National Librarian and National Archivist are for terms of seven years. Unfortunately the appointment for Chief Statistician has no fixed period -- it is simply for a term of "during pleasure". As such the only way there will be a new Chief Statistician would be for Fellegi to voluntarily take his well deserved, and overdue, retirement, or for our new Prime Minister (whoever that might be) to appoint a new Chief Statistician. My past calls for the government to either direct Ivan Fellegi to obey the laws of Canada and return care and control of Historic Census records to the National Archivist, or to seek his overdue retirement have gone unheeded. The only person able to 'go after' Fellegi is the Prime Minister. Fellegi, why not go to the source..... how can he be fired?? I am sure that he has not been elected for life, has he? I haven't kept up with the politics of Canada for a while, as I was living in the southern part of the US.... and as you know, no news travels that far south. I am now closer, but have a lot of catching up to do. All I know, is that if I don't do my job to the company's satisfaction, I don't work there anymore. Can he not be replaced??? I have been researching my family for awhile now, and hit the brick wall while waiting for 1911 reports. So I do have an interest in the release of those records. Just want to know why no one has gone after Fellegi. Lorraine ==== CANADA-CENSUS-CAMPAIGN Mailing List ==== How to unsubscribe from Digest Mode.
