The government is opposed to both of those amendments and will advise government memebers to vote against them. We have done our homework in the Senate and found that we don't have the numbers right now to overcome that fact. The House of Commons may be another story. There are many House of Commons members that regularly fight for Freedom of Information, including John Bryden (NOT the Senator). I hope that response is sufficiently direct for Mr. Stewart. On a related note, for those of you who may have missed it, last week the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada announced that he has relaxed the rules that govern those who lost their Canadian citizenship after 1947 and wish to regain it.
