    3. Hello everyone, I know we all have a sense of frustration with the federal government over the release of the post-1906 censuses but the negative reaction to the creation of the Canada History Centre has surprised me. We should applaud when the government turns any attention and money to preserving and promoting the history and heritage of our nation! Canada has a number of national museums--the Museum of Civilization, the Museum of Science and Technology, the Canadian War Museum, the National Gallery--which reflect the social, cultural and military history of Canada but none devoted our national life or political history. The Canada History Centre will provide a showcase close to Parliament for our founding documents (BNA Act, Constitution, Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms) and other treasures long hidden in the vaults of the National Archives and other cultural agencies. While many of us learned our political history in school, that is not so true of children today. Less history is taught in school than in the past and Canada receives immigrants from around the world who are not familiar with our traditions and heritage. The creation of the Canada History Centre, the building of a new home for the War Museum, and the merger of the National Archives and National Library, reflect a heightened awareness and interest in Canadian history and heritage on the part of the government which, in the long run, can only bode well for our campaign to have the post-1906 censuses released. We should build on this announcement! 3. Hi everyone I have just been catching up on my emails today and after reading much of what has happened today, it almost makes me glad that as a Canadian citizen, I am luckily living in the United States where my money can't be used for this unnecessary building while Health Care for many including my mother and cousins takes a back seat.
