    3. To:-- The Liverpool Advance Box 10, Liverpool, NS BOT 1KO From: Muriel M. Davidson 25 Crestview Ave., Brampton, ON L6W 2R8 Dear Greg:- Further to our conversation about the 1911 census, the following is my Letter to the Editor -- hope it passes your approval! Muriel M. Davidson muriel_davidson@sympatico.ca ========================= To all readers:- One of the very familiar items in living-rooms of the past was the Family Bible -- notations being inscribed -- whether birth, marriage or death -- families accepted this information as correct. Now, the Family Bible may still be in many homes - but people have moved away, contact has been lost with many family members, so any notations are no longer complete. The Canada Census Committee, formed in March 1999 following two small notes on two Nova Scotian e-mail lists, have been fighting on behalf of all researching lost family members. Some of the reasons are learning about other family members but one reason includes genetics -- health problems handed down from generation to generation. Every resident in Canada has a Member of Parliament and a Senator. We are seeking their positive approval to release of the 1911 Canada Census Records -- these are being held by the Chief Statistician, Dr. Ivan P. Fellegi. Release date was June 1, 2003. The Canada Census Committee request letters to MPs, asking for his/her approval of 1911 census release. In the Queens, Shelburne and Lunenburg ridings, Gerald Keddy has been a staunch fighter for us. One may ask how we keep track of the MPs -- we use a scoreboard: http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index6.htm - bilingual. One will note the lack of many GOLD symbols, but many were recently elected. The BLUE ?'s are the ones to question. Letters may be written to any Member of Parliament - free postage. The address is NAME, House of Commons, Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6 There are QUESTIONS at the above site -- use the information in your own words but we desire unrestricted release of our census. Petitions for House of Commons, Senate and Non-Resident are needed as backing that people desire the 1911 census records. Go to http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index.htm Petitions are downloadable -- Canadians may sign the first two -- the address where to send them is on the same site. Many people have webpages -- we are requesting links to the census pages we added -- see the maple leaf logo at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~downhome/ Is it familiar? The link should be on every historical society webpage. Should you be reading this and do not have a computer, visit one of the following where PETITIONS are likely displayed -- Queens County Museum/Thomas H. Raddall Research Centre; Shelburne Genealogical Society, South Shore Genealogical Society. Above all, thank Gerald Keddy for being in agreement of the release of the 1911 census records -- not only for family history, but the last one before World War One. Some names will be on the census of those who did not return home. Anyone may contact me if desired -- and thanks!! Muriel M.
