To all:- Radwanski is one of the ones with whom we have had to deal -- or at least he found the UNFINDABLE LAW that prevented release of census without court ruling. Yesterday's Toronto Sun Pages 4 and 5 will be part of my paper data when I attempt to have Revenue Canada forgive all or part of my husband's "supposed" tax debt. On a total pension income, before deductions, of $16,500, this veteran at Sunnybrook is supposed to pay $530.20. Needless to say -- I have NO sympathy for Radwanski, a former newspaper editor, who "got away with it" to date. He also did not desire the Sun to print the story. See DEAL OK on Page 1 of Toronto Sun, also http://www.canoe.ca/Columnists/robinson.html Many thanks to John Bryden, MP for uncovering this story. Muriel M. Hi Muriel - We need a laugh this morning - on the whole The Sun seems to have more in depth coverage of the issue than the CanWest papers. There is a marvellous column in the Calgary Herald (National Post) today by Don Martin - a whole new segment for the next publication of the Canadian Dictionary. A couple are - Radwanskiing occurs when MP's rip through a paper blizzard to find a snow job; Radwanskism - a religion where senior officials believe the taxpayer collection plate is theirs to endlessly empty without guilt, remorse or justification. I wonder how much of this sort of stuff could be dug about the head of Stats Canada - for instance who pays for his overseas trips to try to convince other countries to shut the door on census information - if he is invited the host should pay - if he is butting in then we pay? Revenue Canada has never offered to reduce my tax either, in spite of getting hit hard a couple of years ago because I had to use RIFF money to remodel my kitchen so I could function in it. Over the income limit for any government handout. Sometimes I wish we had gone on holidays instead of putting the money into RRSP's.
