>>>> THE FOLLOWING MAY BE FORWARDED <<<<< To Douglas Stobbs and many others:- As Gordon Watts already mentioned to you, there is NO special petition for British Home Children researchers. Go to http://globalgenealogy.com/census/petition.htm Download the petition(s) you need, Canadians may sign both Senate and House of Commons -- Non-Canadians sign the Senate one. I have discussed this with Senator Lorna Milne, a personal friend, and she would feel honoured to be a "voice" at the Senate level on behalf of the British Home Children and descendants. She said she would give a history and present ALL petitions received to date. This would be entered in Hansard, the daily happenings of what goes on in Ottawa. To date, I have received TWO petitions with TWO signatures. As mentioned above there is No separate petition. Below the "Prayer" and line, there is a line which states "Signatures gathered at ....." In the left-hand margin, print B H C beside Signatures At the middle of this line is a word "by" Use two lines, print the name of the BHC person, for example Joan Cook, desc. William Cook, BHC ----- that has been approved by Senator Milne. DO NOT WRITE OR ADD WORDS TO THE PRAYER (the wording above) The one who gathers signatures may obtain them from family, friends, others who are interested in this cause - one young fellow suggested schools. Sincerely hope this explains all -- there are also French language petitions. At the present time, my husband scoffed NEITHER WAIF NOR STRAY, a great book which may have to be brought in on inter-library loan! [Thanks, Perry] Muriel M.
