To all:- THIS MEMO MAY BE FORWARDED The great news today, first sent to me by Doug Joudrey, a fellow Census committee member, and then read on the front page of The Toronto Star, is that files about YOU and I are being dismantled. The Hon. Jane Stewart announced this yesterday about the huge database she had accumulated on over 30 million citizens. The information included marital status, education, even if caught by the police, income tax, investments - anything under our S.I.N. Even Mr. Bruce Phillips conceded it invaded OUR privacy. Over 18,000 requests have been received to date, will be processed and WE will be able to learn what her Human Resources department knew about us. Please remember -- this is not the CENSUS DEPARTMENT and we have yet to hear from the Expert Panel. Citizens of Canada, wishing to learn about themselves, have until June 30th, 2000 to file a request -- please keep a copy of what is sent to The Hon. Jane Stewart, HRDC. Your full name and address, plus your Social Insurance Number (as used in banks, etc.) must be on the request. The address, fax or telephone is listed below. Some time ago I learned how much money I had in the banks, the investments, I was married, had three children, we owned a car and a camper van, sold our house to our son 10 years ago -- plus other data -- also my mother was born in Maine.
