    1. [CCC-L] Trying to trace my Gt Grandfather!

    3. I am staggered to read what is proposed in Canada regarding post 1901 censuses. I am trying to trace my Great-Grandfather, Walter SCOTT. He was born in Christchurch, Cambridgeshire, U.K. in 1868 to John & Hannah SCOTT. He had a brother Frederick and a sister, Emily. Walter left for Canada 1901 onwards. Where he sailed from, where he dis-embarked and where he settled I do not know, as I have only just found out about him! I have had an awful lot of help from people on the individual Province's Mailing Lists, but no sign of him yet. But how come I (and you) can have free access to Land Grants and other info, but the Government thinks we shouldn't have access to the Census?! By my reckoning, I should be able to trace my Gt Grandfather on the 1911 census and find out if he had a new family - perhaps more new cousins just like the newly-discovered branch of my father's family in Australia! All good wishes to your campaign, Regards, Ann McClean Bobbin Lace Supplies ann-mcclean@mid-wales.net www.ann-mcclean.mid-wales.net Researching: CAWTHORN, SCOTT, RUSSELL,BERRY/Christchurch & Upwell, Cambs; SCOTT/Canada; PALMER, Da Silva PALMER, WATSON/Wisbech & Cambs/Norfolk border; BARSBY/Auckland, New Zealand; SCALES, SMITH/Baldock, Herts.
