    3. Hello Audrey:- As a former Nova Scotian, I like the Chester-area -- my home was near and in Liverpool, not too many miles away. You will note that I have found many Genetically Inherited Diseases in my personal family -- I am the one who keeps the card file stating WHO has WHAT at any certain time. We tried at that time, but failed to obtain release of the Post 1901 census records, so have kept on trying. Tancook Island was a perfect place for the research - unknown to many. Muriel M. I believe the post 1901 census records will be of immense help to many people, and family health histories top the list of reasons why these records must be released and made available to everyone interested in having them. My family has a house in Chester, Nova Scotia and a late next door neighbour, Dr. E.K. Woodroofe, looked after many of the Tancookers suffering from Fabry's Disease. I can remember when some of the people were sent to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal for evaluation. Given that its occurence seems to be limited to very specific small pockets (for reasons that may not be known at this time), it's essential that everyone with roots on that island be aware of what may be lurking in their DNA. As you well know, we are predisposed to far more than blue eyes or long legs. Your committee is to be commended for the ! extraordinary amount of work that's been done over a long period of time and for having the tenacity it takes to move a bureaucratic mountain. If you think this should be posted to the list, please go ahead. Best wishes, Audrey Ogilvie -------Original Message------- From: Muriel M. Several years ago, when the Expert Panel was formed by John Manley to hopefully obtain release of Post 1901 census records, I put together Genetically Inherited Diseases. Many contributed -- on Pages 16-17, you will find the data re Fabry's Disease and research on Tancook Island http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Murielsub.htm Lloyd A. Horrocks, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, contributed all the data plus internet research. My grandson is studying to be a research specialist at McMaster University and as a Teacher's Assistant, teaches Genetics -- he has used the contributions of many in this book. When all read my personal pages, all will realize why genetics are very important. Until several years ago, I did not know of the existence of the disease. Muriel M.
