My father was first generation Ameican, born in Ohio. Two generations of my Kelly family were born in Ontario, Canada and we have a proud tradition of being descendants of a Loyalist, Israel Tompkins, my G-G-G-Grandfather, who was of English extraction. My primary concentration (About 90 %) of family history research is in Grenville County; Peterborough County; & Kent County, Ontario. The Parliament in Ottawa must be made to understand that these genealogical records are important to both Canadians and Americans, alike. We share a common border & a common ancestry. The United Nations has recently chosen Canada as one of the greatest countries in the world to live in. Parliament should live up to such an honor and realize that these genealogical records are a National Treasure which should be protected and preserved for generations to come.
