    3. To all members of CANADA-CENSUS-CAMPAIGN list:- Where is everybody? Very possibly, you all read the posted items, but how often do YOU contribute. (I am tired of seeing my name there -- there needs to be a few more contributors). Should you be interested, here are a few items to research:- Archives: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/CAN/CANADA-CENSUS-CAMPAIGN.html Gordon Watts has done a fantastic job with the Scoreboard at http://www.globalgenealogy.com/census/index6.htm Find YOUR Member of Parliament -- will likely be one with a Blue ? as there are many who have not replied. We have found MPs reply to those of their own riding -- as they would like to be re-elected. As of June 28, 2000 (with more changes to follow):- YES (Gold tick).. = 67 (read the messages received from them) NO (Red X)......... = 5 (Some have been studying and are changing) Undecided (F) = 52 (this includes our Prime Minister) Not heard from = 177 I do not have the totals of listers, nor the names of those belong to the list but the 177 tells me there should be ONE person for each lister to write to, asking support for ANY Bills or Motions re post-1901 Census. Courtesy of Jeannine Ouellet, there have been French language memos sent -- but anyone may write to his/her Member of Parliament. Suggest to the Member of Parliament they look around the office and find the copy of THE MYTHS OF CENSUS sent to each one by Gordon Watts - with a CD available if they request it. (One MP printed off the whole 100 pages -- then found the envelope) http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Farm/7843/poll.html [This site celebrates its FIRST BIRTHDAY today - Thanks, Bryan!] For those in the three prairie provinces, MEMORANDUM OF LAW by Lois Sparling, Alberta barrister, should be read -- the 1906 census SHOULD have been available in 1998: http://www.waynecook.com/simcoe.shtml To add a more frightening tone to census, the standings of the Senate are: Liberals = 59; Progressive Conservative = 39; Independent = 5, a total of 103. By Liberals dominating the Senate, any census bill or motion could be turned DOWN as they all vote alike -- the Clarity Bill C-20 was voted in, with many bad sections, by a "loaded" Senate. So -- to all researchers who want the 1906 and 1911 census and others, let's get busy -- a few of us cannot do it for you!!!! We have tried -- but we find many ASSISTANTS replying with OLD information provided by Statscan, Fellegi, etc. Gordon is away until July 7th -- let's get moving on this, PLEASE!!!! Muriel M. Davidson <davidson3542@home.com> Canada Census Committee Brampton Centre riding!
