    3. holiday StationeryGreetings All. I copy here for your information an email sent by Melville Andress to Prime Minister Jean Chretien. In my view it is an excellent example of a well thought out message that does not get emotional, sticks to facts, and makes a point. Mel "went the extra mile" and sent his message to the Prime Minister in both official languages. Well done Mel. Thank you for your continuing interest and support. Happy Hunting. Gordon A. Andress To: pm@pm.gc.ca Sent: Sunday, January 28, 2001 7:08 PM Subject: Post 1901 Census Release. Rt. Hon. Jean Chretien M.P. Prime Minister of Canada, House of Commons, Ottawa, On. K1A 0A6. Dear Prime Minister Chretien: Sub.Post 1901 Census Release. You have always indicated to your fellow Canadians your high regard for cherishing our Canadian Heritage.I wish to compliment you for your position taken on this matter in past times. Countless Canadians (including the writer) applaud you for your statements of principal. My area of concern exists in the possibility that future generations may be excluded from access to certain statistics which could represent the only source of ancestral knowledge. In Canada there is a growing increase of the practice of cremating deceased persons. This off times results in ash scattering with consequently, no record of interment and quite possibly, no on going record of the deceased person's existence. Case in point, my father's will stipulated cremation which as executor, I carried out. Without access to Statistics for Manitoba's Census Post 1901, his future descendants would be declined research to a record which would round out incomplete Family Ancestry. The Minister Of Trade, Honourable Brian Tobin M.P. has been credited in a public statement of saying that "further study" was required before pursuing "Post 1901 Census Statistical Accessibility". Has this matter not already been studied to death? Please Mr. Prime Minister, I entreat you do let us preserve our Canadian Heritage by making sure that as Canadians: " We can find out where we came from in order to find out where we are going!" Sincerely, Melville R. Andress Abbotsford, BC.V2S 2L5.
