Another British Home Children bit of information. Muriel <davidson3542@home.com> ------------------------------- Dear Listers, I just received from Barnardo's After Care the long awaited (since April 2000)information regarding my BHC great-grandfather William John WARBRICK and his sister Susannah WARBRICK. William was born on June 14 1863 and was admitted to the Liverpool Sheltering Home at age 11 on June 14, 1873. Susannah was born on March 21, 1866 and was admitted to the Liverpool Sheltering Home at age 8 on March 14, 1874. Their father was deceased and the mother had re-married. Her name was subsequently Mrs. Blair. The stepfather evidently ill-treated both the mother and her children. The mother's last address was not known following a move to Manchester. Both William & Susannah sailed for Halifax, Nova Scotia on April 7, 1874. The information did not specify the ship name although there is an entry "2nd Bard April 7th 74" (not sure what this entry means). There are two other entries that I am puzzled about: "C.D. Hunter Esq, Coward? St, Halifax" (this was crossed off) "Samuel McDonald, West River, Pictou? Co" Could these be possible destinations for William? Since I am not a direct descendant of Susannah, I am not able to get a copy of her records. I do not even know if she ever married. I have acquired the birth certificates of both William & Susannah. They were both born in West Derby, Lancaster, England. Their father was John WARBRICK and their mother was Phoebe formerly ECCLESTON. I am excited about these bits of clues and will continue my search to connect with my unknown British ancestors. Karen Ellis <kjellis100@hotmail.com> Laguna Hills, CA, USA
