    3. Hi Lauraine, Yes, even old movies were produced about serious "mine accidents" and there was one famous one about the "health" of the miners. I think the one I'm thinking of was in based in Ireland. But, as I type this, I remember watching a movie a couple years ago about a "mining tragedy" in Nova Scotia. Having a "fear of heights" is one thing. But, think how many people would not want to be -- 10 miles under the ground ! And, I think we've had at least 2 fatal or near-fatal accidents inside a deep mine in the US within the past 5 years or so ! 3. Betty, Are you thinking of "How Green Was My Valley"? That was set in Wales. About how the slag heaps were slowly taking over the valley in which the miners lived. On 60 Minutes last Sunday night they ran a story about something similar happening in Tennessee with coal ash - supposedly safe enough to put on golf courses - but don't drink the water! And when it spilled.. so sad. faye ---- Betty <bbffrrpp@comcast.net> wrote: > Hi Lauraine, > > Yes, even old movies were produced about serious "mine accidents" and there > was one famous one about the "health" of the miners.
