In the 1880 Census, for Monson, Hampden, Massachusetts - Source: FHL Film 1254534 National Archives Film T9-0534 Page 354A , there is an institution under the name of one GARDINER TUFTS, which contains 43 Staff all told. Four children are listed as "inmate" or "inmate at school". 346 children are listed as "at school". Ages of children, (not belonging to staff), range as low as 3 months to 18 years. Children as low as 4 years are listed as "at school". Most all of the children show a "birth state" or "birth country", and the short form used is readily recognized. However there are two boys, Samuel A. and Thomas J. Murray, ages 13 & 10 respectively, listed as "at school" with place of birth shown as "HB". Can anyone enlighten me as to what "HB" would stand for. The two boys in question were born in Canada, and later documentation show they immigrated to the USA in 1873. Thanks for any help, Richard
